Why should I have my own roller skates?

Every time you rent skates, you have to get used to the feel of the skate because you don't get the same pair every time.  When you have your own skates, your feet will become accustomed to your skates and you will learn so much more quickly.  Once you get used to having your own skates, you will not want to rent skates ever again.

Buying your first pair of roller skates

Our first choice of skates for our students is a skate that offers excellent ankle support and with adjustable trucks for learning edging, which helps you gain control of "steering" your wheels. For those on a budget, we recommend the Chicago 400/405.

Another decent quality skate for beginner skaters is the Dominion Esprit, which is available in sizes 8J (toddler) to adults size 13.

For size 5 and up (adults) we recommend the Chicago 800/805.

And if you are seeking a full leather boot for toddler to adult and a really good beginner skate is The Super Duper Pacesetter.

If you don't live near a professional skate shop (normally located within your local skating rink), let us know and we can recommend a skate shop that can help you choose the right skates and ship them directly to you. Email at 4skating@bellsouth.net
